So my good friend Louise reported to me that Bring It On is being made into a musical!! Now I have been tweeting and saying for a while now that I really want to watch Bring It On the movie but I only have it on VHS. I guess someone heard me and said, "It's cool Jonathan, we will just make it into a musical for you." Yes, Please and THANK YOU! Now some of the naysayers might be thinking that this would be a horrible musical. WRONG! When I saw the words Bring It On and Musical I immediately thought MAGIC. Here is he proof. Broadwayworld.com reports that the creative team for this cheersical is going to be made up of an award winning team:
"The award-winning creative team for Bring It On: The Musical includes an array of talented and innovative individuals drawn from the top ranks of the Broadway Theatre World. Andy Blankenbuehler (Tony Award-winning choreographer for In The Heights) will direct and choreograph. Jeff Whitty (Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical for Avenue Q) will write the book. Bring It On: The Musical will feature music by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Tony Award winner for In the Heights) and Tom Kitt (Tony Award winner for Next to Normal), and lyrics by Amanda Green (High Fidelity). Tony Award winner Alex Lacamoire (In The Heights, Wicked) will serve as orchestrator, arranger and music supervisor." - Broadwayworld.com
The only thing that would make this better is if I were cast as an East Compton Clover! The producers are hoping for a developmental regional production in early 2011. P.S. I hope they keep this scene. It is one of my favorites and I randomly say it from time to time. Also Bring It On is the best movie Kirsten Dunsts has ever done, second only to Drop Dead Gorgeous!
This is mindblowing. I feel disappointed that they didn't call for me to audition. I need to practice my toe touches now....
