The Golden Globe nominations for 2010 are in! This means that award season is coming up hot on us all and stylist and fashion houses all over are already in a mad dash to fulfill dress requests. (I hope Brad and Rachel Zoe don't go as crazy this year trying to get more dresses for Annie and Eva!) "The emails are not stopping today. Golden Globes craziness." tweeted DKNY's PR Girl. The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards will air on Sunday February 17, 2010. This is during the same week as Mercedes Benz Fashion Week for Fall 2010 in NYC. "Because they (The Golden Globes) are before shows it limits options. That's good and bad.." DKNY's PR Girl states in her Tweets.
As for the nominations themselves, I am very happy! It looks like my prediction about the movie Precious came true! As I recall I said that I saw an Oscar or at the very least a Golden Globe in Mo' Nique's future and with her Golden Globe nom for Best Performance by an Actress In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture, I say that she is well on her way! Gabourey Sidibe (Precious) also scored a nom for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama.
I was EXTREMELY happy for Joseph Gordon-Levitt and his movie (500) Days of Summer! JGL picked up a nom for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical Or Comedy, and (500) Days of Summer scored a nom for Best Motion Picture - Musical Or Comedy. I loved this movie when I saw it back in March at SXSW Film in Austin, TX! It was my absolute favorite of the festival.
Also racking up major noms is crowd favorite Glee! I am so happy that Glee did so well with nominations at the Globes! I just KNEW that Jane Lynch was going to get all kinds of noms for her performance as coach of the Cheerios, Sue Sylvester! Jane is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. Lea Michelle (Rachel Barry) and Matthew Morrison (Mr. Shue) got nominated for Best Performance by an Actress and Actor In A Television Series - Musical Or Comedy and Glee got a nom for Best Television Series - Musical Or Comedy. GET IT GLEE!
One film that I am really excited to see get nominations at the Globes is Grey Gardens. I have yet to see the movie but Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lang look like they did stellar performances in the clips that I have seen. They are both up for Best Performance by an Actress In A Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television.
I could go ON AND ON about The Globes, the noms, and award season but I will stop for now. I LOVE LOVE LOVE award season and all of the fun and glamour that it brings. I also love talking about movies and comparing and contrasting performances. As the Globes get closer I will put up the list and highlight who I think will win. It is always fun to see how many categories you get correct!
BEST OF LUCK to all of the nominees in all of the categories. Also, best of luck to all of the stylist and PR people dressing the stars! I cannot wait to weigh in on all of the fab fun!

So Avatar was nominated for Best Picture? I don't think "best special effects" necessarily means that same thing as Best Picture
