Okay, so you're probably going, "Is this like a Noxzema commercial or what?" But seriously, they are making one of my favorite movies ever, Clueless, into a legit Broadway musical!! Director Amy Hecklering confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that she has a director and producer lined up and has already written the book! The show will be a jukebox musical meaning the songs will be ones that are already out and known to the masses.
I know that all of the diehard Clueless fans are hoping for music from the iconic soundtrack. How amazing would it be to have an entire Broadway cast singing "Rollin' With the Homies?" They already have a bit of built in choreography for this song from the movie...
Let's just hope that all of the actors shoes are on tight because nobody wants to have a moment like Tai in the front row! Another amazing moment would be if Cher belts out "All By Myself" and the girls all sing "Supermodel" as they make over Tai (They need to hire me to help them lay all of this out because I have seen the movie 2,000 times or more at least)!
Heckling told ET that the main problem right now is casting which I can understand because this movie means a lot to so many people. The original actresses above did such an amazing job capturing these characters and the Broadway cast will have to do the same. I trust Amy more than the polaroids that I take of my outfits everyday so I know she will do a fabulous job!
The news of the musical version of Clueless comes just before the 20th Anniversary of the film in July. It is hard to believe that it has been 20 years but the fact that the movie has stood the test of time says a lot about how amazing this film is. There are so many good quotes, moments and outfits through the entire movie.
I don't know about you but I am eating two bowls of Special K, ironing my collarless white shirt from Fred Segal and running to theater to see this as soon as it hits Broadway!
Until then...
