Kylie Jenner realized early that 2016 would be the year of realizing stuff
We started 2016 with wise words from an unlikely source... Kylie Jenner. The Tyga loving, Lip Kit mogul stated early on that she felt this year "is really about, just the year of realizing stuff." When she announced this we all LOL'd and rolled our eyes because Kylie was just being Kylie... Then 2016 started to progress and we realized that Kylie's realization about realizing stuff was REAL! Here is what we realized.
We realized how important it was to hang on to old friends
Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell put Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner to shame in the Spring 2016 Balmain campaign
Make new friends
Jonathan Valdez with Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz
Jonathan Valdez and Boy George
Hailee Steinfeld and Jonathan Valdez
Jonathan Valdez and Teresa Guidice
and remember the friends and things that we lost.
We lost trailblazers like Prince, David Bowie, Muhammad Ali, Bill Cunningham, Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds and so many more like Big Ang and Miss Cleo
Iconic New York City establishments closed like legendary stylist Patricia Field's clothing store and even the Carnegie Deli. Above (Front)- Leo Gugu (Back from left to right)- Jonathan Valdez, Kat Jenkins, Tyler Wallach, Lara Eurdolian shopping at Patricia Field's clothing store in the final days before it closed
We also realized that we had to stand up for what we believed in
Hillary Clinton was the 2016 Democratic Presidential Nominee making history for women
In June the LGBTQ community suffered a huge tragedy when Orlando's Gay Nightclub Pulse was the scene of a mass shooting while club goers were enjoying a night out. Above is a photo of the candlelight vigil at the Stonewall Inn that I attended in New York City honoring the Pulse victims as they read every name of the victims who were lost. This was one of many that were held across the country.
Through all of the ups and downs of 2016 we realized that we need to take time to sip some Lemonade
Beyonce let the world know who she has always been with her visual album Lemonade
and find the Glory in all of the chaos.
Britney Spears shook the world with her 9th studio album Glory. It was the best pop album of the year in OJ&B's opinion!
So here's to that crazy rollercoaster ride that was 2016. May you SLAY in 2017 as much as Britney did ALL YEAR LONG!
Britney Spears did an epic editorial spread for V Magazine's 100th issue this year. Along with being featured on the cover, she dominated 2016 by continuing to slay in Vegas as well as taking the show on the road to music festivals around the U.S. and London!
HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM
