It seemed that back in the day celebrities stayed in their lane as much as possible to focus on their "craft." These days it seems like celebrities have to stay in multiple lanes to stay relevant and keep the coins flowing. Enter the magical world of celebrity fragrances. From Liz Taylor to Lady Gaga, Britney to Beyonce everyone who is anyone has a fragrance (I know you have seen all of them stacked together at your local drug store like some reduce priced Hollywood Squares episode).
To celebrate these fabulously fragrant celebrity endeavors, the THNK1994 Museum teamed up with Brooklyn based illustrator and designer Miriam Carothers to bring the magic of these celeb scents to life. Carothers' work has been featured in three previous shows at THNK1994 as well as on Broad City and countless publications showcasing interpretations of the most outrageous pop culture moments (you know we love those).

On December 29th and December 30th from 11AM to 7PM at 246 East 4th Street, you can experience Carothers' illustrations recalling 10 of the most iconic celebrity perfume ads, in what may be the first museum exhibit you can open the flap of and rub on your pulse points. This exhibit is not for the faint of heart or the fragrance sensitive!

Upon entering the exhibit, visitors will be transported into the the lush, evocative world of the celebrity perfume. From “White Diamonds” to “Midnight Fantasy” the exhibit will explore the evolution of the celebrity perfume advertisement. “Am I in a mall???” you’ll exclaim as we greet you at the door to ask if you’d like a spritz of one of Britney’s most iconic scents. “Is there a Cinnabon here?”, you’ll wonder aloud as you catch a glimpse of yourself in the ornate mirrored frames (there isn’t but feel free to bring your own snack).

Installations include a fantasy perfume counter and a live performance of a curator opening and closing the door in an attempt to get some air flow as the exhibit transports you to the lush world a celebrity perfume ad exists in. Each illustration will come with the free gift with purchase of the original perfume. The journey will end at your own photo shoot for your perfume in THNK1994's fanciful photo booth which leaves the museum to wonder if "your scent going to dominate the perfume counter circuit, or will it reek havoc on your career?"
